Chuhai Labs is looking for a Dialogue Writer to join our team to help us push forward an exciting new project.

Chuhai Labs is an indie developer founded in 2020 as a brand of Vitei Backroom by Nintendo alumnus Giles Goddard who developed classic titles including Star Fox, 1080 Snowboarding, Super Mario 64, and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Chuhai Labs is located in the beautiful city of Kyoto, Japan.

What We Need You To Do:

• Work alongside our team to develop and maintain unique characters with distinctive personalities and quirks through dialog writing

• Write compelling and memorable character dialogue within specified technical parameters

• Work with the engineering team to implement and test all dialogue using existing tools 

• Proofreading and editing of all written material

• Provide support for localization

Required Experience & Knowledge:

• 3+ years of commercial game development experience

• Have shipped at least one commercial game in a dialogue writing role

• Editing dialogue to fit gameplay requirements

• Excellent ear for dialogue and character voice

• Willing to learn and use the development tools needed to bring the writing into the game

• Self-motivated, well-organized, and proactive about acquiring knowledge and learning new skills

• Able to work and iterate quickly and effectively within a team

• Native English speaker

Preferred Attributes:

• 5+ years of commercial game development experience

• Experience shipping multiple commercial games as a Writer

• Experience working with Unity and spreadsheets
